Windows XP Service Pack 2: Slow business uptake
Microsoft's latest update to it's Windows XP operating system was released in August 2004, but despite a significant uptake by home users the uptake in business networks has been somewhat slower.
This is not particularly surprising, as IT Managers tend to be understandably more cautious in installing the latest service packs and fixes, until any potential issues have been detected and corrected.
However, SP2 contains a number of security updates such as a network firewall (earlier versions on XP only had a firewall for dial-up connections), web pop-up blocking, anti-virus monitoring and improved update management, which could be of immediate benefit to business IT users.
If you are running Windows XP on your business network and don't have SP2 installed, then contact Inter-Logic for advice on an SP2 roll-out.
